GANDY DANCERS WEEKLY REPORT

The biggest news we’ve got right now is THE WORLDS LONGEST MODEL TRAIN! You can see all the particulars on this momentous event by clicking on this link. The train will run on April 26th and we’ve got some of the biggest names in Garden Railroading behind this. USA Trains, Locolinc and Kadee are supplying equipment in order to make this run possible.

We’ve been trying to get the word out to everyone who is interested in being a part of model railroad history in this country, buy a set of USA Trains Intermodal units and donate them to the cause. In return you will receive your units back with a certificate and video tape documenting the run.

We’re trying to get as much press coverage as possible, so if any of you happen to know anyone in the news business, let them know about this. A press release is forthcoming.

Large Scale Online (LSOL) has even started a raffle. For $10.00 each you buy a chance to receive a set of the intermodal units after the train has run. They are using the money to purchase intermodal sets. At this writing they have enough to purchase 6 sets for the train. That’s pretty impressive.

We’re really excited about this and are looking forward to seeing you all the end of April.

GANDY DANCERS CURRENT PROJECTS

At this writing, we are in Naples, FL building the RJH Copper Mountain Railroad. It’s on a beautiful golf course in Bonita Springs. Florida is a little different building than Arizona or California. First of all, they have mosquito’s in FL so all patios and pools are enclosed in screened areas. So although technically this railroad is outdoors, it is within the confines of the screened patio. It’s pretty cool. Rick and the client have spent the better part of the past 6 months designing this railroad, so it wasn’t a real surprise when we got here. We hope to have it finished by the end of March.

The other current project is the Burr Ridge, IL Railroad. We started this railroad the weekend after Thanksgiving 2007 and had to give up the ghost in January due to the weather issues. By all accounts this has been one of the harshest winters the Midwest has seen in recent years.
